Shipping and Stocking Policy
Items that display a physical inventory count are in stock at our facility and ready for immediate shipment.
UPS shipments will go out the same day if the order is placed before 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time. USPS and FedEx shipments will go out the next business day.
Items that do not display an inventory count are available for purchase but are not physically in stock at our facility. These items must first be shipped from the manufacturer to us before we can ship them to you. The typical waiting period is approximately 10 business days.
Order Returns, Refunds, and Restocking Fees
You have 30 calendar days to return an item from the date you received it. Returns may be subject to a restocking fee of up to 20% of the product purchase price. Restocking fees help cover the cost of order processing, inspection, testing, repackaging, and returning items to inventory.
Scaled Instruments generally only charges restocking fees when a manufacturer charges us a fee to return the product. Products that are stocked on our shelves typically will not be subject to a restocking fee if they are returned in their original retail packaging and in like-new condition. Special-order items, equipment ordered from the manufacturer, and products not normally stocked on our shelves may be subject to a restocking fee. Because each manufacturer has a different restocking fee policy, please contact us before returning an item to confirm whether a restocking fee will apply.
A restocking fee may apply when an item is returned for reasons other than a Scaled Instruments shipping error or a verified product defect. This may include items ordered by mistake, buyer’s remorse, refused deliveries, cancellations due to unexpected manufacturer procurement or lead times, or returns of items that have been opened, used, installed, programmed, handled, or are no longer in factory-new condition.
Shipping charges, customs duties, taxes, brokerage fees, and other third-party charges are non-refundable. Returned items must be complete, undamaged, and include all original packaging, manuals, accessories, and components. Additional deductions may apply for missing parts, damaged packaging, signs of use, or any product condition that prevents the item from being resold as new.
Scaled Instruments reserves the right to refuse a return or reduce the refund amount if the returned item is damaged, incomplete, altered, installed, used, or otherwise not returned in acceptable condition.
Scaled Instruments does not intentionally profit from restocking fees. When a restocking fee applies, it is generally because the manufacturer or supplier charges Scaled Instruments a fee to return the product. In those cases, the restocking fee charged to the customer is intended only to recover the cost imposed on Scaled Instruments by the manufacturer or supplier.
Important Disclaimer for Orders Shipped Outside of the Unites States
Import duties, taxes, and brokerage fees are not included in our product prices or shipping charges. International shipments are made under Incoterms DAP, which means the buyer is responsible for any duties, taxes, brokerage fees, customs clearance charges, or other import-related fees imposed by the destination country.
Our shipping charge covers transportation only. It does not include any fees charged by your government, customs authority, broker, or carrier after the shipment enters your country.
Please note that if you refuse a shipment because of customs duties, taxes, or brokerage fees, some carriers may require those fees to be paid before they will return the shipment. It is the customer’s responsibility to understand and accept any import charges imposed by their own government. For a general estimate of what to expect, you may use an online calculator such as SimplyDuty.
USPS First-Class Mail and USPS Priority Mail usually offer the lowest international shipping rates; however, they are also typically the slowest delivery options. International USPS packages may appear to be stalled at a U.S. port or export facility for a week or two before tracking updates appear in the destination country.
USPS is generally reliable, but it can be very slow. Please allow up to two full months for international USPS delivery before contacting us to request an official inquiry. Delays of up to two months are especially common during December and January.
If you need faster or more predictable international delivery, we recommend choosing DHL, FedEx, or UPS instead of USPS.
